[03] Meet the Waves in Motion Team

Armando Alonzo
Armando recently joined Waves as a FileMaker Developer. Mondo (as he is known to his friends) was born in temperate Flagstaff, Arizona, but somehow thought it was a good idea to move into the oven that is Phoenix. He holds a degree in Education, and spent 12 years as an elementary school teacher. In addition, Armando spent time at Arizona State University instructing teachers on the use of technology, and was also their FileMaker administrator and webmaster. Armando’s hobbies are drawing and painting.

His favorite movie line:
“And the Lord spake, saying, first shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it”
-Monty Python and The Holy Grail

Deb Bader
Our Vice President of Marketing was born in Philadelphia, PA and says it is a good place to be from…far away from. She holds a degree in Communications from Rowan University in New Jersey and has worked for Citibank, American Express and Wells Fargo Bank. What’s Deb’s most memorable experience in Arizona? Deb says, “Once during a marketing promotion in April, I was dressed as an Easter Bunny delivering Easter baskets. It was about a thousand degrees and I was sweating buckets. We thought we had been pretty smart, keeping the chocolate rabbits in a cooler with ice, but we missed one. We ended up with a sack of liquefied chocolate Easter Bunny!” Deb can most often be found in her car, chauffeuring her kids!

Her favorite movie line, it’s a toss up:
“Are you crying? There’s no crying, there’s no crying in baseball…”
-Jimmy Dugan, A League of Their Own

“Idiot!”
-Napoleon Dynamite, Napoleon Dynamite

“Go away, or I shall taunt you a second time.”
-French Knight, Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Andy Costello
Our Director of Graphic Arts (and anything else we can think of, as he has many “great skills”), Andy is our official geek in residence – and that’s saying something in a technical environment! Born just outside of Boston, “Psycho Andy” (really, look it up on Google) enjoys reading comic books and playing with toys. He studies Graphic Arts at Scottsdale Community College.

His favorite movie line:
“Why don’t you try walking on your hands? Then you can use your feet for givin’ high fives, and makin’ sandwiches – You know, the important stuff!”
-Michael J. Caboose, Red vs. Blue

Linda Costello
A seven-year veteran of Waves in Motion, Linda is Waves’ Director of HR and Finance. Originally from Brockton, Massachusetts, Linda’s background includes degrees in Education, Finance and Business Administration, studies in psychology and a certification from the Gestalt Institute. Linda’s most memorable experience of living in AZ, “I remember when I first moved out here in April 1996 – I left Massachusetts in a blizzard, and arrived in Phoenix to 95 degrees without air conditioning in my car, and thought I was going to melt!”

Her favorite movie line:
“Gravity works!”
– Batty in FernGully

James D’cunha
New to Waves in 2005, James came to us from the Arizona K-12 Center, and is a Software Engineer. Known as “Roy” to his friends, he was born in Doha, Qatar. He holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT Manipal. James enjoys reading spy/homicide thrillers.

His Favorite Movie Line:
“So say good-night to the bad guy.”
-Al Pacino in Scarface

Andrew Kohtz
Andrew hails from the Corn Husker State (we’re pretty sure that’s some place in the middle of the U.S.) and is our systems administrator, responsible for our Unix servers and network infrastructure at Waves. Andrew is our *quot;go-to-guy” for all things technical. What is Andrew’s fondest memory in Arizona? His first “run-in” with a cactus, of course. (Most of us have had at least one.)

His favorite movie line:
“Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!”
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Sanjay Purohit
Another new addition to Waves, Sanjay is a Senior Software Engineer. Nicknamed “Manu,” Sanjay was born in Bikaner, India. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University, and many of his fondest memories of Arizona are of his time spent as a student there. Sanjay’s years of experience include time spent with J4 Systems, Delegata, Locus Technologies, Compuware, Digital Insight , Level One Comm (Intel) , AZ Dept of Education, and Intel. Sanjay enjoys table tennis, tennis, working out, travel to other countries, hiking, and James Bond Movies.

His favorite movie line:
“Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
-Forrest Gump

Marcus Silving
Marcus is our C.E.O. and an expert FileMaker developer. Marcus’s clients range from financial institutions, to educational institutions, to government contractors, to medical educators, to dental supply companies and pet product home delivery. His unique ability to understand complex situations and communicate them in an easy-to-understand manner is a strength, which is highly valued by his clients and the staff. It also explains his diverse client base!

His favorite movie line:
“There is no spoon. Right.”
-Neo, The Matrix

“How come in former lifetimes, everybody was someone famous? How come nobody ever says they were Joe Schmo?”
-Crash Davis, Bull Durham

[04] But it’s a dry heat…

Hot time summer in the city!! Yes, it is summertime in Phoenix, with temperatures still in the low 100s (38° C). Water, sunscreen and hats are still in order for the outdoors. Real Phoenicians tough it out indoors by going shopping, taking in a movie or a ball game (That’s right. It’s indoors and air conditioned.), or heading to one of our great restaurants.
